The public library of Herzogenaurach offers approximately 25,000 items which are regularly updated. We provide more than 1,500 new acquisitions yearly.

More than two-thirds of our items (approximately 20,000) are books - from fiction, to non-fiction, youth and childrens literature are available to our readers. If the book you want is not available then we offer an inter library loan service which can request and receive books from university libraries.

For our English speaking customers we have novels and childrens books. In the Media Library we offer cassettes, CDs and DVDs. You can choose from classical music to modern or jazz rhythm. Or just borrow childrens cassettes or CDs with stories that will never bore the kids. For adults, we even offer fiction and non-fiction cassettes and CDs for your hearing pleasure.

Do not forget our wide selection of videos, DVDs, CD-ROMs and linguistic learning programs. Take time to sit and read our daily newspapers or just borrow any of our 40 magazine subscriptions.

For just 1.00 Euro per hour you can surf in our internet. Or simply download or print any information you need on the world wide web.

You can borrow our books for four weeks. Feature films (both videos and DVDs) are due after one week. All other items - board games, cassettes, CDs, CD-ROMs and magazines - are due after two weeks. If there are no reservations you can have your borrowed items extended either by calling us, or sending us an e-mail or just doing it yourself by our online-catalog.

We have a 10.00 Euro membership fee for adults and youth (from 18 years old), valid for 12 months. Anyone who lives or works in Herzogenaurach or just visits Herzogenaurach is welcome. Childrens' memberships (from 6 years old) are free of charge. The child's parent or guardian will be asked to fill in the registration form.

Internet surfing costs 1.00 Euro per hour.

Feature films (videos and DVDs) cost 1.00 Euro per week for both children and adults.

For overdue items we charge a reminders fee.
