Welcome to Herzogenaurach!

Tips and advice for new citizens

With approx. 25,000 citizens and 13 affiliated communities, Herzogenaurach is the biggest town within the administrative district of Erlangen-Höchstadt, located in the center of the European Metropolitan Region of Nuremberg. With its likable mixture of cozy Franconian atmosphere, cosmopolitan attitude and dynamism, Herzogenaurach is, above all, a lovable and livable Franconian town.

Irrespective of the reason for your starting over again in Herzogenaurach, moving to a new town always means a lot of questions to ask and jobs to be done. With the following sites we would like to assist you with orienting yourself in Herzogenaurach, with getting acquainted with the new surroundings and with feeling comfortable.

Welcome!

Arrival & first orientation

Moving to a new town always means visiting the local authorities: Within two weeks after moving in, the new place of residence has to be registered at the Citizens Advice Bureau. Please remember:
Register for electricity, re-register your telephone - a brief list of links is to help you with these first transactions:

Live and experience

After the first transactions have been completed, Herzogenaurach offers, above all, a high level of quality of life. Bicycle and hiking paths invite you to discover the surrounding nature and landscapes. Numerous cultural events offer the possibility to enjoy your time and make the most diverse experiences. The walks for new citizens with our First Mayor Dr. German Hacker are also meant to
help you feel home in Herzogenaurach.

Education, family & social affairs

The Town of Herzogenaurach has invested a lot in the educational situation and the associations of the town. The Senior Citizens' Council and the commitment of the citizens are very important aspects of public life. Find further information here:

City walks for new residents

The best way to explore a new home is on foot, because that gives you time to look at your surroundings at your leisure and take in the atmosphere.

The introductory city walk for new residents may be - quite literally - the first step you take in your new home town. Enjoy the sights of the historical heart of Herzogenaurach and make your first contacts with the town's administrators, local people, other new residents and perhaps event future neighbours

The new residents' city walk gives you the opportunity to become part of the international community that makes Herzogenaurach so special.

Depending on the season, you will be invited to drinks at one of our festivals or fairs: because one thing we value in Herzogenaurach is sociability - in future with you.
