Weekly market in Herzogenaurach

Fresh fish, juicy fruit and vegetables, delicious baked goods: every Wednesday and Saturday morning from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. there is a weekly market on the main street in the town center.

The weekly market has now become a popular meeting place during everyday stress: In addition to the daily fresh local and regional products that you can buy here, there are always friendly conversations.

 

News from the weekly market

In Holy Saturday, 19 April 2025, Garten Hofmann will be back at the weekly market with plants for spring. The newly crowned bratwurst world champion, Metzgerei Reck, will also be there, as will German Ade and Lillachtaler Räucherfisch. Uli Berntgen will also be there with her Allgäu cheese for her customers - for the first time on Saturdays!

From Saturday 26 April, the Tristan organic farm from Gunzendorf will be in front of the Fehnturm with seasonal fruit and vegetables, potatoes, oilseeds, cereals and organic eggs.

The Erbel bakery is looking for staff for its stall at the weekly market on Wednesdays from May. If you are interested, please call 09163 / 8096!

Fish specialities (Wednesday)

Varied selection, high quality and freshness: Anita Reichelmann not only supplies fresh fish but is also known for her detailed advice and excellent recipe service.

Smoked fish (every 2nd and 4th Saturday)

Rainer Kräusel is new to the weekly market with his Lillachtal smoked fish. He stands in front of the Fehnturm every second Saturday and sells smoked fish as well as fish sandwiches.

Cheese specialities (Wednesday and Saturday)

Cheese connoisseurs can choose from around 80 types of cheese at Manfred Hieke: He offers exquisite cheeses from the Bavarian Alps, Austria, Switzerland, France and South Tyrol.

Allgäu mountain cheese (Wednesday)

Uli Berntgen from Cadolzburg now comes every Wednesday with Allgäu mountain cheese from her brother's cheese dairy.

Baked goods (Wednesday)

"I bake, therefore I am" - true to this motto, Arnd Erbel sells fresh baked goods - baked without yeast, using only sourdough. You can also buy sweet pastries here. Arnd Erbel will not be at the weekly market on 23 April.
The Erbel bakery is looking for staff to help with its stall at the weekly market on Wednesdays from May. If you are interested, please call 09163 / 8096!

Fruit and vegetable market (Wednesday and Saturday)

The Huber family's Lohhof fruit market offers a wide selection of fruit and vegetables. You can also buy flowers here.

Fruit (Wednesday and Saturday)

Local fruit and berries are available at the stand of Mr Siebenhaar from Franconian Switzerland. The speciality is apples suitable for allergy sufferers.

Organic fruit and vegetables (every 1st, 3rd and 5th Saturday)

The Nickel farm offers fruit and vegetables from its own organic farm (BIO). Eggs and wheat and rye flour can also be purchased from the farm, as well as lamb products/meat to order.

Honey and more (Wednesday)

Dieter Poschner from Schornweisach now brings honey, beeswax candles, beeswax cloths and organic eggs and potatoes from Nickel Hof to the weekly market in Herzogenaurach every Wednesday.

Eggs and poultry (Saturday)

You can get a selection of pasta, eggs (including colourful Easter eggs) and poultry meat on request from Werner Käferlein's stall. You can also buy egg liqueur here. Additional date: Wednesday, 16 April 2025

Meat, bratwurst and cold cuts (Saturday)

Jürgen Reck, the village butcher, comes to the weekly market every second Saturday and brings a wide range of sausage and meat products with him. His bratwursts are a particular highlight - with which he has also recently been crowned bratwurst world champion.

Soups, sauces, spices: The Wela company has been successful in Germany for almost 100 years - and now also at our weekly market.

"Delicacies from the jar" are available at the pantry stand. Whether sweet and savoury spreads, syrup or ketchup - the range is varied and regional.

Herzogenaurach beer (Saturday)

Mathias Hoehn and his bierfabrik hoehn sell his hand-brewed beer and also offer samples at the weekly market. The hoehn beer factory will be at the weekly market on the following Saturdays: 26 April / 10 May / 24 May / 26 July / 2 August / 13 September / 11 October / 25 October / 22 November / 13 December / 20 December

Afro-Caribbean Snacks (every 2nd and 4th Saturday)

German Ade provides visitors to the weekly market with Afro-Caribbean snacks every fortnight. The products are homemade and contain no preservatives or additives. The offer ranges from plantain chips to drinks and hot food, such as empanadas (filled dumplings, also vegetarian).
